More Paint - Day 45

Painting is just about done!  The only thing left to paint are the mutton bars for the bow window and the sliding glass door and to stain the hand rail going up the stairs.  The walls and trim are DONE!  Thanks to Gary and son!

The trim carpenters (Jim and Jake) will return tomorrow to finish their piece of this puzzle!

This weekend I will be filling the cupboards!

Since the first coat of paint was already on it is hard to tell the difference in the pictures, but...

The crown molding will not cover the entire drop, so we painted the part that will show the darkest gray.

Countertops! - Day 44

I originally started this post in the afternoon and it was going to be titled "More Paint", but then what should appear, COUNTERTOPS!  So, not that paint isn't important, but countertops are more exciting, (personal opinion, of course!), the title was changed!  Not to leave out the painting, the woodwork was all painted today and it looks very nice!  Although I am not posting pictures, and it isn't really part of the remodel, they came and put more insulation in the attic and insulated the crawlspace!  We are going to be so nice and cozy we may never leave the house again!  So, it was a busy day around here!

Tomorrow they will finish up the painting and not sure what other surprises we have in store!

Paint! - Day 43

The painter started the day by sealing the stain on the fireplace and the railing.  He suggested I leave because it would smell, and boy was he right!  But it looks nice!  He then painted (technically it is probably primed!) the dark woodwork on the patio door, the bow window and the stringers on the stairs.  He also painted/primed the trim at the top of the doors and windows and the areas that were sanded on the rest of the trim.  He and his trusty assistant will be back tomorrow!

Back on Track - Days 40-42

We had a little lull in activity for a couple of days, but now we are back on track!  The painter stained the fireplace and new railing.  The rest of the crown mold was delivered today so the trim carpenters can finish their work.  I think they will let the painter finish before we see their smiling faces again!

There will be two posts today (hopefully!), one to report yesterday's progress and one to show what is done today!

Although it will look a little different, the TV will go in the vacant space, and YES, we did go out last night and bought the TV!

Paint Prep - Day 39

No pictures today!  Lance prepped for the painters.  So although progress was made, and it is very NECESSARY progress, it does not show very well in pictures!  Each step gets us closer to the finished product!!

More Progress - Day 38

The trim carpenters (Jim and Jake) went as far as they could today with the fireplace.  They need additional material before they can continue.  They put the vanity top on and started on the new replacement railing.  The painter came to get a sample of the wood so they could match the stain for the rest of the fireplace and will return on Thursday to stain!  I think tomorrow will be a day that we don't see much progress unless the material the carpenters need gets delivered.

It doesn't look too much different than yesterday, but they finished up the molding above the fireplace and the base molding.  

They also put on the handles and drilled for the drawer handles so they are ready to go when they come in!

Fireplace - Day 37

Jim and Jake worked MOST of the day on the fireplace!  They still have some to go, but it looks very nice!  They did get the bathroom vanity installed and the bathroom trim finished too!

The shelf areas are shaping up nicely!

They used furniture molding around the bottom of the cabinets and the legs of the fireplace rather than the white molding used everywhere else (fancies it up a bit!)

They will put the vanity top and the door hardware on tomorrow.
